    Tide Clock Accuracy
The online tide clock displays the current tide for Frankston as supplied by the Bureau of Meteorology using methods of interpolation and offsets provided by the Australian National Tide Tables. Actual tide clocks such as those available through the store on this website are not accurate enough for scientific purposes as they do not take into account the gravitational effects of the sun, or changes in atmospheric pressure which may alter the state of the tides. Please note that in some areas, the gravitational effects of the sun are similar in magnitude to that of the moon.

    Flood Warning - Loddon River
Issued 1 hour and 29 minutes ago
    Victoria

Major Flood Warning for the Loddon River
Issued at 4:58 pm EST on Wednesday 8 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

No rainfall has been recorded in the Loddon catchment since 9am Wednesday.
Little rainfall is expected for the remainder of Wednesday, however rainfall is
likely on Thursday with totals of up to 10 to 20 mm forecast in the Loddon
Catchment. This rainfall is expected to lead to some renewed stream rises and
possible renewed minor flooding in the upper reaches of the Loddon River and
    tributaries.

Stream levels in the Loddon catchment to Laanecoorie reservoir have peaked and
are now below the minor flood level, however further stream rises are expected
in the coming days due to forecast rainfall. Rises in the Loddon catchment
downstream of Loddon Weir are expected over the coming days as flood water
    moves down through the catchment.

    Upstream of Laanecoorie Reservoir
Bet Bet Creek at Bet Bet is currently below Minor Flood Level (4.0 metres) but
forecast rainfall on Thursday is expected to lead to minor flooding on Friday.

    Downstream of Laanecoorie Reservoir
The Loddon River downstream of Laanecoorie peaked at around 6.1 metres (Major
Flood Level 5.5 metres) around midnight Saturday. The river is currently at

expected to rise above Minor Flood Level during Friday in response to rainfall
    forecast for Thursday.

The Loddon River D/S Loddon Weir peaked at 7.02 metres (Major Flood Level 7.0
metres) during Monday afternoon. The river is currently at 6.31 metres
(Moderate Flood Level 6.0 metres) and falling. The river is expected to remain
above the Moderate Flood Level for the remainder of Wednesday.

    Appin South
The Loddon River at Appin South is currently at 2.42 metres (Minor Flood Level
2.8 metres) and rising. Early indications are that the river will peak above
the Moderate Flood Level between 3.1 and 3.2 metres during Saturday into Sunday.

    Kerang
There will be stream rises on the Loddon River at Kerang in several days as
flood waters make their way downstream from the Loddon Weir. A peak forecast
will be provided once upstream gauges have peaked.

In the interests of community safety the SES suggests following precautions:
    * Don't walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
    * Don't allow children to play in floodwater,
    * Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains, and
    * Keep well clear of fallen power lines

    FLOOD WATCH ADVICE
Issued at 4:01pm on Wednesday the 8th of September 2010

Initial Flood Watch advice for northern river basins

    Statement:
Patchy rain will develop about the west tonight and extend statewide tomorrow
before increasing about the west and north during the afternoon and evening.

Between 5 and 15 mm of rain is expected about the north tomorrow and early
Friday, particularly over the northwest and central north, with the possibility
    of 20mm over elevated areas.

As the north is generally saturated and rivers are already running high, further

streams. Low level roads and bridges may be at risk of flooding.

    Weather Outlook:
    Rain, easing Friday morning.

    Next advice: 11pm Wednesday 8 September 2010.
