Moderate Flood Warning for the Gascoyne River

Issued at 8:47 PM AWST on Sunday 29 Mar 2026.

Flood Warning Number: 5

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG GASCOYNE RIVER AT NINE MILE BRIDGE OVERNIGHT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

Heavy rainfall associated with the passage of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has caused river level rises in the Lyons and Gascoyne River catchments. River levels have now eased below the minor flood level along the Lyons River at Lyons River Crossing after a moderate flood peak late Saturday. Along the Gascoyne River minor flooding is easing at Jimba after a peak around the moderate flood level Sunday morning. Further downstream, minor flooding is easing at Fishy Pool after a minor flood peak early Sunday evening.

The arrival of upstream floodwater has caused fast river level rises at Nine Mile Bridge during Sunday evening. The river level is likely to exceed the minor flood level late Sunday evening, and may exceed the moderate flood level overnight Sunday into Monday. A moderate flood peak may occur mid-morning Monday.

No significant rainfall is forecast over the Gascoyne River catchment in the next few days.
