Major Flood Warning for the Flinders River and Flood Warning for the Cloncurry River

MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY AT WALKERS BEND FROM SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

MODERATE FLOODING EXPECTED TO BE OCCURRING AT RICHMOND POST OFFICE

Moderate rainfall during the last few weeks over the upper Flinders catchment has caused persistent major flooding in the upper Flinders River. Major flooding is estimated to have eased along the Flinders River at Richmond Post Office, where river levels may fall below the moderate flood level Saturday afternoon.

The main flood peak along the Flinders River is near Etta Plains. The flood peak along the Cloncurry River is around Canobie, upstream of the junction with the Flinders River.

River levels are slowly rising along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend, where major flooding is likely from Sunday into Monday as flood waters from both the Cloncurry and Flinders rivers arrive.

Flinders River to Richmond

Moderate flooding is expected to be occurring along the Flinders River at Richmond.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond

Elevated river levels are occurring along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond. Major flooding is likely at Walkers Bend.

Cloncurry River

Elevated river levels are occurring along the Cloncurry River. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rain.
