Flood Warning for the Nicholson and Leichhardt Rivers

ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS AND FLOODING OCCURRING ALONG THE NICHOLSON, GREGORY, ALBERT AND LEICHHARDT RIVERS

Widespread heavy rainfall over the last week has resulted in river and creek level rises and flooding across the Nicholson and Leichhardt catchments. Minor flooding is occurring along the Gregory River at Gregory Downs. Along the Nicholson River, a flood peak is approaching Kingfisher Camp, and river levels remain elevated at Doomadgee. Further downstream, river level rises and areas of flooding are expected to be occurring and are likely to continue along the Albert River at Burketown during the next few days.

Along the Leichhardt River, river levels are elevated but slowly falling, with minor flooding having eased at Floraville.

Nicholson and Gregory Rivers

Minor flooding is gradually easing along the Gregory River at Gregory Downs. Elevated river levels are expected to be occurring along the Nicholson, Gregory and Albert Rivers.

Leichhardt River

Minor flooding has now eased along the Leichhardt River at Floraville, but river levels remain elevated and above the causeway.
