Weather Situation

DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS DEVELOPING DURING TUESDAY.

A deepening low pressure system near New Zealand will direct increasing southerly swell towards Norfolk Island during Tuesday morning.

Damaging surf conditions, with waves exceeding 5 metres in the surf zone, are likley to produce significant beach erosion from Tuesday morning, particularly about south facing beaches.

The Norfolk Island Police advise you:

  • - Keep clear of fallen power lines, stay indoors away from windows and keep children indoors.
  • - Stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. For emergency help in storms, ring the Norfolk Police on 000 or +6723 22 222.

This warning is also available through Radio broadcasts or the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au. The Bureau and Norfolk Island Police would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.
