    Tide Clock Accuracy
The online tide clock displays the current tide for Broken Head as supplied by the Bureau of Meteorology using methods of interpolation and offsets provided by the Australian National Tide Tables. Actual tide clocks such as those available through the store on this website are not accurate enough for scientific purposes as they do not take into account the gravitational effects of the sun, or changes in atmospheric pressure which may alter the state of the tides. Please note that in some areas, the gravitational effects of the sun are similar in magnitude to that of the moon.

A low pressure system over northern South Australia is expected to be centred

    Yarra and Werribee catchments.

The Bureau of Meteorology in conjunction with Melbourne Water are continuing to
monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings when required.

    Flood Watch Advice
Issued 5 hours and 13 minutes ago
    Tasmania

    FLOOD WATCH ADVICE
Issued at 9:49am on Friday the 3rd of September 2010

Initial Flood Watch advice for all northern river basins.

    Statement:
An approaching low will bring moderate to locally heavy rain and thunderstorms
about the northern half of the state during Saturday, before easing and
contracting to the west and south during Sunday.

Widespread totals of 30 to 40 mm are expected, with falls up to 100 mm
anticipated on the northern slopes of elevated areas, particularly in the
northeast quarter and along the Western Tiers.

Most river systems carry strong flows from rainfall over recent weeks. Further
rain during Saturday is likely to cause high levels of minor flooding by
    Saturday evening.

Flash flooding late in the morning is probable in some areas, particularly when
rainfall rates are expected to be at their heaviest.

Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard in most rivers and streams. Low
level roads and bridges may be at risk to flooding.

    Weather Outlook:
Rain extending statewide during Saturday morning, with locally heavy falls and
possible flash flooding about the north.

Next advice: By 5 pm, Friday, 3 September 2010.

Warnings are available on "WeatherCall", number 1900 955 359 [approx. cost of 77
cents/min., inc. GST] and on the Bureau's web site,
